Accompanying the whole people in COVID-19 fight
On the frontline against the epidemic, in addition to the drastic efforts of medical staff, local authorities, functional forces, and the support of the people, there has also been the very important contribution of the tens of thousands of officers and soldiers of the army and police, who day and night quietly maintain security and social order, stabilising people's lives and preventing and fighting the pandemic.
As soon as the Covid-19 epidemic appeared in Vietnam, together with functional forces, the image of military officers and soldiers standing side by side with the people against the epidemic became very familiar. They are present everywhere, from border areas, remote islands, to streets, inter-commune and inter-village roads, at each checkpoint together with functional forces to check and trace pathogens, encouraging people to comply with the regulations. Everywhere people can see images of military officers and soldiers performing many different tasks.
With the goal of locking down the risk of infection from the outside, zoning out the epidemic from the inside, providing effective treatment, and protecting the health and life of the people, the military forces have deployed many practical and effective activities.
Since the fourth wave of the pandemic occurred, the military has arranged 180 concentrated isolation points, supporting disinfection, zoning and epidemic suppression for all localities. Currently, more than 90 concentrated isolation points are in use for more than 15,600 people.
At the border, for many months now, guards have maintained thousands of checkpoints with tens of thousands of officers and soldiers taking turns to work day and night to resolutely prevent cases of illegal entry, deploying hundreds of isolation points, closely monitoring citizens returning from border areas. On the trails on the edge of the forest or on the rugged cliffs of the border, the Border Guards have set up tents, makeshift camps, and supervised the area in poor conditions, in the heat, heavy rain and cold, all to prevent illegal entry.
In Ho Chi Minh City, Military Region 7 has deployed 55 concentrated isolation points with 13,000 hospital beds, sending forces to participate in managing more than 300 local isolation points.
Along with that, there are hundreds of mobile and specialized teams involved in Covid-19 tracing work and more than 200 teams taking samples for testing.
With the quality of "Uncle Ho's army", military officers and soldiers have been urgently working with frontline forces to prevent the spread of the epidemic and ensure the people's health.
In fact, after nearly two years of fighting the epidemic, it is impossible to measure all the silent sacrifices of the army and police. Many military units have set up tents to live in the forest, leaving their barracks as an isolation area for the people.
Many policemen who had just stepped up to support epidemic prevention work in Bac Ninh and Bac Giang have set out to strengthen other localities. Many people have been away from their families for several months and have not been able to visit their homes. There have also been officers and soldiers who have fallen during the epidemic days.
In the medical force on the front line against COVID-19, there are currently thousands of medics, doctors and medical staff on the payroll of the armed forces directly involved in the treatment and care of people with Covid-19.
When the provinces of Bac Ninh and Bac Giang opened the 19.8 Hospital and the National Hospital of Traditional Medicine ,the Ministry of Public Security quickly send 166 medical officers and staff to participate in the operation of the Field Hospital No. 2 in Bac Giang.
Immediately after the fourth outbreak of the epidemic, 130 officers, employees and soldiers of Military Medical Hospital 105 set out for Ho Chi Minh City and Binh Duong province to build the 1,000-bed Infectious Field Hospital No. 5D, needed to help receive and treat patients with Covid-19. In the southern provinces and cities heavily affected by the epidemic, there are currently seven military field hospitals with the capacity to accept and treat 3,500 patients, ready to expand to 10,000 patients.
Military medical doctors make a great contribution to the treatment of patients with Covid-19, effectively supporting the health sector in many localities.
During these tough anti-epidemic days, there have been many heartwarming stories about the military and people's solidarity that have touched people's hearts. Typically, the model "Zero dong" stall of the Military Command of Hau Giang province, or the movement at Division 309 (4th Corps) have contributed thousands of gifts to support the people affected by the epidemic. On August 5, the High Command of Military Region 7 presented 5,000 gifts to local people in the area. On August 8, the Ho Chi Minh City High Command began implementing the campaign "100,000 gifts to support the people", trying to ensure that each commune, ward and town receives at least 100 gifts to support people suffering because of the epidemic.
Meanwhile, police officers and soldiers in Sop Cop district (Son La province) donated blood to save the life of a mother and child. Then the Traffic Police of Quynh Luu district (Nghe An province) mobilized forces to help people collect agricultural products. Captain Nguyen Dinh Chieu, police officer of Xuan Tao ward, Bac Tu Liem district (Hanoi), helped bring a pregnant woman to the hospital to give birth. And recently, it is necessary to mention the efforts of the Ho Chi Minh City High Command in receiving ashes and burning incense for those who have died in the city.
These heartwarming stories are like a fire that spreads warmth, bringing positive energy to the community, contributing to writing a beautiful symphony about compassion and loving care, a precious tradition of the nation; and a telling aspect of the superiority of the socialist system.
Over the past half century, in every revolutionary period, the armed forces have always been the vanguard, loyal to the Fatherland, the Party and the people, ready to strive and sacrifice for the country. In war or in peacetime, they always fulfill their tasks of protecting national sovereignty, maintaining social order and safety, and fighting mercilessly any and all hostile forces plotting against the country. When the Covid-19 epidemic spread in many localities, the armed forces were once again ready to fight to protect the Fatherland, and maintain security and social order in all situations.
In all challenges, the noble qualities of the military force and the People's Public Security force have always been promoted to the highest level, worthy of being the core force, a solid support for the government and the people.
Therefore, as the country faces difficulties because of the epidemic, the actions and beautiful images of army soldiers and policemen have become more and more clear, becoming a unique and humane highlight in the prevention and control of the Covid-19 epidemic in Vietnam.
