EuroCham raises funds to support hospitals in COVID-19 fight
This fundraising initiative was launched on August 18 to provide assistance of essential medical equipment to hospitals which are facing difficulties in Vietnam.
EuroCham President Alain Cany expressed his hope that EuroCham will raise funds of US$500,000 to make a real difference to Vietnam's fight against the pandemic. Accordingly, a virtual seminar will be held on September 7 to attract more major donors for the campaign, especially companies based in Europe.
To date, a ventilator has been delivered to Nguyen Tri Phuong Hospital in Ho Chi Minh City; while three other ventilators and two monitors were sent to Becamex Binh Duong Hospital thanks to donations from Jardine Matheson Group, EZ Land, Belgium Ambassador to Vietnam Paul Jasen, and Honourary Consul of Belgium in Ho Chi Minh City Gricha Safarian.
So far, over 30 European companies have given donations to the fund worth a total of over US$120,000, including BNP Paribas, Friesland Campina, DeHeus, BASF, Piaggio and AppleTree. In addition, individual donors have contributed US$30,000.
EuroCham has being working with suppliers in Vietnam to purchase more medical equipment as soon as possible, ensuring the assistance will be granted to medical forces and patients.
