In his letter sent to scientists and organisations in the medical sector, the minister said that the COVID-19 pandemic in Vietnam remains complicated, with many outbreaks taking place with faster and stronger infectious virus strains. The health sector, along with the political system and people is trying hard to control the pandemic to achieve the goal of preventing the pandemic, protecting people’s health, and promoting socio-economic development, Long noted.

He also lauded scientific proposals and initiatives from organisations and individuals both at home and abroad which have been applied in reality and brought about practical results, including the early isolation of the causative agent (the SARS-CoV-2 virus), the production of biological testing products, and solutions in COVID-19 diagnosis and treatment.

He emphasised the important role and contributions of scientists in devising further solutions and initiatives to serve the anti-pandemic work for the health of the people and safety of forces participating in the fight.

Long called on scientists and organisations in the medical sector to continue to propose more solutions to combat the pandemic following the motto of “5K + vaccine + technology”.

The minister expressed his belief that the glorious tradition from generations of doctors and scientists will be a source of strength and encouragement to help Vietnam become stronger and more decisive in the fight and soon defeat the pandemic.

*Deputy Director of Ho Chi Minh City Department of Health Nguyen Hoai Nam said that the city will ensure adequate supply of medicine bags for more than 70,000 F0s in self-quarantine at home.

In the meeting on COVID-19 pandemic situation held on September 1, Nam noted that the city’s health sector has transferred 110,850 bags of necessary medicine to districts and Thu Duc City to provide to F0s who are being treated at home.

In addition, the Ministry of Health has provided the city with 50,000 doses of the antiviral drug Molnupiravir while hospitals on the second layers have also used Remdesivir in the treatment of COVID-19 patients who have become seriously ill.
