PM orders prioritised supply of COVID-19 vaccines to Ho Chi Minh City and southern localities
According to an official dispatch from the Government Office, the PM ordered the MoH to prepare plans for the distribution of the next vaccine batches while urging relevant agencies to speed up the vaccination pace.
In a bid for HCM City and adjacent localities to reach herd immunity in the fastest time possible, Deputy PM Vu Duc Dam, head of the National Steering Committee for COVID-19 Prevention and Control, requested that the authorities of HCM City and its neighbouring provinces of Binh Duong, Dong Nai and Long An take the initiative in working with the Health Ministry to adjust the vaccine administration procedures in tandem with requirements and their current situations, as well as devise vaccination plans and report the vaccine demand based on the plans to the Ministry.
The MoH is responsible for the vaccine distribution to ensure supply based on the requests of the People’s Committees of HCM City and the provinces.
On August 5, Deputy PM Dam and a Government delegation inspected and worked with Binh Duong Province's leaders on the prevention and control of COVID-19 in the province.
Dam asked Binh Duong to continue strictly implementing Directive 16 of the Prime Minister on social distancing restrictions, while better implementing the support policy for those affected by the epidemic and urgently investing in equipment to treat COVID-19 patients to reduce the mortality rate.
In HCM City, local authorities have vowed to support all local people having difficulties during the current outbreaks and social distancing restrictions. The city has been organising vaccination for people working and living in the city, including foreigners.
Phan Van Mai, Deputy Secretary of the HCM City Party Committee, said that the city would provide a one-time direct support of VND1.5 million per person for about 334,192 freelancers who lost their jobs due to the impact of the pandemic, as well as VND 1.5 million per household for 90,585 poor and near-poor families.
According to the MoH, Vietnam detected 4,009 new COVID-19 cases over the last 12 hours to 6 am on August 6.
The number of infections since Vietnam was hit by the fourth COVID-19 wave reached 185,162, including 55,266 who have been given the all-clear. The total recoveries stands at 58,040.
On August 5, more than 442,422 doses of COVID-19 vaccines were administered across the country, taking the total number of shots given so far to more than 8.06 million, with 820,023 people fully vaccinated with two jabs.
According to Viettel Group, as of August 5, nearly 3.5 million Vietnamese people have had an electronic COVID-19 vaccination certificate updated on the National COVID-19 Immunisation Management platform, developed by the military-run group.
After the injection data is updated with a QR code to a centrally managed database, people can look up their vaccination certificate on the Electronic Health Book application or on the platform.
On the same day, the Police Department for Administrative Management of Social Order (C06, under the Ministry of Public Security) launched its COVID-19 declaration system to facilitate population administrative management and COVID-19 tracing work.
Citizens can access the system at https://suckhoe.dancuquocgia.gov.vn to declare information on the national database on population. The information a citizen declares about permanent residence, temporary residence, departure and destination will be sent to the local authorities through the residential data system for management and monitoring.
All the data as well as people's movement history are absolutely confidential by the Ministry of Public Security.
