Vietnam records 264,775 new Covid cases

Health authorities on Monday confirmed 264,775 new Covid cases, including nearly 103,528 cases that had been detected on previous days but yet to be added to the national database.

61 cities and provinces recorded more than 161,000 cases, while the extra cases were added by Quang Ninh, Thai Binh, Vinh Phuc and Lao Cai provinces.

Quang Ninh led Monday's tally with 35,388 cases, followed by Thai Binh with 32,951 and Hanoi with 29,833.

92 deaths were confirmed on Monday, raising the death toll to 41,480.

The Health Ministry also confirmed 108,407 recoveries the same day, bringing the total number of recovered cases so far to 3,271,978.

The average number of new infections recorded in the past week is 164,807 cases a day nationwide.

So far, 79.3 percent of the population have received two vaccine doses.
