The Government official made the request on August 25 while visiting the corporation to inspect its transportation of goods and prevention of the COVID-19 pandemic.

Colonel Ngo Minh Thuan, General Director of Saigon Newport Corporation, said that the corporation has actively built and implemented scenarios according to each production plan while promoting the application of technology in online working.

As a result, business activities of the whole system are maintained smoothly, without congestion, with cargo throughput up 12.7% in the first six months of 2021.

The corporation also strictly follows regulations on epidemic prevention and control with 100% of its employees, member units, and shipping lines in Ho Chi Minh City having been vaccinated.

It also organises rapid testing for 100% of its employees in Ho Chi Minh City once per week while implementing the “3 on-site” model for more than 3,000 employees, Thuan added.

*On the same day, Deputy PM Le Van Thanh also worked with Dong Nai Province on the implementation of measures to control the pandemic.

He appreciated the province’s efforts in fighting the pandemic as 20% of its enterprises can manage the “3 on-site” production model with the participation of about 200,000 workers.

*On August 25, Politburo member and Secretary of Hanoi Party Committee Dinh Tien Dung also inspected pandemic prevention and control in Hanoi’s outskirt district of Quoc Oai.

Chairman of Quoc Oai District People’s Committee Nguyen Truong Son said that the district has recorded no new COVID-19 cases for 30 consecutive days and 90% of workers at industrial zones have now been vaccinated.

Secretary Dinh Tien Dung valued the district in the fight against the pandemic while asking them not to be subjective and neglectful to maintain positive results in pandemic prevention.

*On the same day, Chairman of Hanoi People’s Committee Chu Ngoc Anh also asked Thanh Xuan District to tighten the management of quarantined and blockaded areas as 10 out of 11 wards in the district have reported COVID-19 cases so far.

He also requested the district to accelerate testing to isolate F0 cases from the community.

*Deputy Head of Ho Chi Minh City’s Steering Committee for COVID-19 Prevention and Control Pham Duc Hai said that the city’s People’s Council has approved a resolution to issue specific policies in support of frontline forces participating in the pandemic fight in the city.

A support package of about VND470 billion will be provided for five groups of beneficiaries, including the frontline medical forces performing direct work, frontline forces performing indirect work related to the pandemic fight, community COVID-19 teams, the volunteer force mobilised by the city to participate in pandemic prevention and control, and the volunteer force mobilised by the Ministry of Health to join pandemic prevention in Ho Chi Minh City.
