NA members call for changing law to add birthplace to passports
The law does not require place of birth and this affects foreign relations and tourism, they said.
Several countries like Germany, Spain, the Czech Republic, and Finland stopped issuing visas to holders of the new Vietnamese passport because it did not include their place of birth.
Vietnamese authorities said they worked with such countries and agreed to add place of birth to the passports if the holders asked for it.

According to International Civil Aviation Organization norms, passports only require information about type, first and last names, number, nationality, date of birth, gender, and expiration date.
Place of birth is country-specific and not mandatory.
The new Vietnamese passport has been issued since July 1 this year.
At the ending November 15, the National Assembly is scheduled to consider seven bills and three resolutions related to, among other issues, petroleum, prevention of domestic violence, inspection, medical examination and treatment, and money laundering.
