Vietnam confirms 48,431 new Covid-19 cases
With the additional cases added to the national database Tuesday, Hanoi reported 40,937 new cases, followed by northern provinces of Yen Bai and Vinh Phuc with 382 and 351 cases respectively.
In the past 24 hours, eight Covid-19 patients have died. The average death tally in the last seven days was eight, down 54 percent against the previous week.
Since the pandemic started in 2020, the death toll in Vietnam has climbed to 43,029 cases, or 0.4 percent of all infections.
The average number of new infections recorded in the past week was 33,200 cases per day, down 20 percent compared to the previous week.
So far, 80.3 percent of the nation's 96-million population have received two vaccine doses.
