Obesity can have a serious effect on your health, regardless of age or gender. It can lead to dangerous diseases like hypertension, diabetes, cardiovascular diseases ... According to the World Health Organization (WHO), sedentary lifestyle is the main cause of the increase obesity, diabetes ...

Overweight and obesity are closely related to excess energy but lacking physical exercise in children. This result is similar to the results of many studies conducted around the world on the relationship between overweight and obesity in children.

Based on researches in the US, the inactive children are three times more likely to be overweight and obese than those who are physically active. Another study by scientists from the School of Sports Science (Norway) and the University of Cambridge (UK), published in the Lancet, shows that inactivity causes more than 5 million deaths each year.

Being sedentary increases the risks of diseases such as diabetes, breast and colon cancer, and heart disease. Health burden and economic performance loss due to poor health worldwide cause an increase of 67.5 billion $ per year in both developed and developing countries. However, according to the researchers, each person only needs to get one hour of exercise a day, and these risks are generally eliminated.
Spend more time with electronics and televisions

Today, technology products such as televisions, computers, phones, video games have become so familiar to each person. No one can deny, these means not only bring us a wealth of information and knowledge while also becoming an indispensable friend. However, sitting idly for hours, even days with these devices has caused many health problems, including weight gain and obesity.

To find the connection between watching television, mobile devices and obesity, the World Health Organization's European Childhood Obesity Surveillance Initiative) conducted research, follow-up and data collection on obesity rates on 63,000 children aged 6-9 across 19 countries in Asia and Europe from 2015 to 2017. Children were divided into seven groups. and all groups participate in similar activities, including: Physical activity; using televisions and mobile devices; Diet rich in fruits, vegetables and sweetened sugary drinks. Results showed that children who watch TV and mobile devices at high risk of obesity, healthy behaviors or otherwise.

Another research conducted by scientist of Auckland University, New Zealand with 5000 children in 2017 had shown that 2-year-olds who watch TV and computer more than an hour a day are at greater risk of obesity, have to see a doctor more and motor skills are less flexible, along with that children can encounter hyperactivity problems when 4.5 years old.

Lifestyle changes to reduce obesity

Many studies have shown that restricting excess sugar intake is not effective in improving health or weight status, while unreasonable abstinence in the long run can even cause a number of reverse effects. Similarly, it is not a reasonable solution to reduce sugar consumption by saying no to sugary soft drinks or imposing special consumption taxes on soft drinks.

According to Prof Phan Thi Kim of Vietnam Safety Food Technology, there is a lot of controversy about eating a lot of sweets leading to obesity, but sweets are just one of the factors, the inactivity is the main cause, eating a lot but exercising often won't cause obesity.

In a scientific study published in 2018, scientists in the UK also found no direct link between the consumption of sugary drinks and the high risk of obesity in children of age. 4- 10 years old. In addition, in the United States, per capita consumption of soft drinks has decreased over the past 15 years, but the rate of overweight and obesity has increased.

Not mentioning macro solutions to a social problem, for every person, from today on, change your lifestyle from the smallest things to a healthy lifestyle for good health. To reduce obesity, the long-term solution comes from lifestyle changes, from the small daily activities of young people and adults in the family. One of the easy, natural ways to help you stay healthy and stay away from obesity is: eat more fiber; increased mobilization; get enough sleep, reduce the amount of time watching TV and smart devices like phones and computers.
