PM calls for enhanced efforts in treating COVID-19 patients
The request came within the government leader’s telegram issued on July 5 as Vietnam continues to battle its worst outbreak since the coronavirus pandemic began.
Chinh said that the health sector must prepare the highest treatment regimens and ensure sufficient oxygen, ventilators and other necessary medical equipment for COVID-19 patients.
He also called for the quick completion of treatment facilities and more effective coordination of resources to reduce the rate of patients becoming sicker.
In his message, the head of government requested an acceleration in the vaccination campaign and priority to be given to healthcare workers, frontline forces, senior citizens, and those with underlying conditions.
With regards to measures to prevent the virus spread, the PM asked local authorities to strictly enforce the “stay-at-home” order and step up the testing in isolated and high-risk areas to promptly detect infections.
He ordered the parties concerned to take aggressive actions to ensure the circulation and supply of foods and other essential goods for the people during the social distancing period.
As part of the battle against COVID-19, Prime Minister Chinh has issued a document on the specific tasks for the head of government and his deputies.
Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh will be responsible for general leadership and coordination while Deputy PM Pham Binh Minh is tasked with securing vaccines from foreign sources and other external activities related to COVID-19 prevention.
Deputy PM Vu Duc Dam will be at helm of medical efforts against COVID-19, directing the Ministry of Health to procure medical supplies, distribute vaccines, research and manufacture domestic vaccines, and administer the vaccination programme promptly and safely.
Deputy PM Le Minh Khai is in charge of matters related to financial policy, tax, insurance and bank loans for affected businesses and people, while Deputy PM Le Van Thanh will be responsible for protecting supply chains.
