Vietnam records 19 more local Covid-19 cases
Vietnam on Wednesday noon recorded 19 local coronavirus patients who have already been isolated following contact tracing.
Among the cases, two are recorded in Hanoi's locked down National Hospital for Tropical Diseases, nine in Bac Giang Province, five in Bac Ninh and one each in Ha Nam, Thai Binh and Hung Yen.
In Bac Giang, the nine cases are all connected to electrical appliance manufacturer SJ Tech company, considered a coronavirus hotspot. All patients are being treated at a local field hospital.
In Bac Ninh, the five cases have all made contact with confirmed coronavirus cases prom known hotspots.
In Hanoi, the two cases are a patient and a family member at the National Hospital for Tropical Diseases.
In Ha Nam, the patient is a 29-year-old woman who traveled from Da Nang to Hanoi's Noi Bai Airport on Vietnam Airlines flight VN160 on April 29. Following news of a coronavirus case on the same flight, she medically declared herself and was put into centralized quarantine on May 2. She's being treated at the National Hospital for Tropical Diseases.
In Thai Binh, the patient is a 37-year-old woman who had made contact with a confirmed coronavirus case. She's being trated at the Thai Binh general hospital.
The Hung Yen patient is a 16-year-old boy who had made contact with several coronavirus cases. He's being treated at the National Hospital for Tropical Diseases.
Vietnam is experiencing its toughest Covid-19 wave yet, which has seen 581 community transmission cases in 26 cities and provinces since April 27.
Nearly 900,000 people have been vaccinated against Covid-19. Over 28,000 are isolated in hospitals and quarantine zones.
