Ho Chi Minh City needs more than 8 million vaccine doses to complete vaccination
Deputy Head of the Ho Chi Minh City Steering Committee for COVID-19 Prevention and Control Pham Duc Hai said that the city has built a plan to inject more than 7.2 million adults with vaccines by the end of this year.
The vaccination plan will be implemented in four phases, with the first phase from August 29 to September 15 requiring more than 2.7 million doses of vaccines.
The second phase, from September 16 to September 30, will need more than 1.3 million doses of vaccines while the third phase, from October 1 to October 15, demands 2.6 million doses.
About 1.4 million doses will be required for the last phase from October 16 to December 31.
As of August 30, vaccines have been administered to more than 6.1 million people in the city, including more than 5.7 million people injected their first dose and more than 337,000 people who have received their second dose.
*The Department of Education and Training of Ho Chi Minh City said that it has proposed that the municipal People’s Committee provide COVID-19 vaccination for students aged 12-18.
The move aims to ensure safety of students returning to school in the second semester of this school year.
More than 642,000 students are expected to be administered according to the proposal.
About 80% of teachers in the city have so far been given their first dose of COVID-19 vaccines.
